A grainy in-theater ver­sion has leaked early, given the qual­ity of these things, this one is pretty watch­able. Lots of new footage and a lot more of the sto­ry­line in this trailer. Includ­ing a shot of Dev­as­ta­tor climb­ing up a pyra­mid.

Update: New Trans­form­ers 2 trailer leaked early (29th April 2009)

The footage from the Las Vegas ShoW­est 2009 is now online for all to see, pub­lished to Michael​Bay​.com. As pre­vi­ously described, the footage opens with Bum­ble­bee and Sam dis­cussing his leav­ing for col­lege and the already infa­mous cry­ing with washer fluid, before jump­ing into a mon­tage of robot awe­some­ness. Typ­i­cally this mas­sive news appears on the week­end I am out in the coun­try with­out inter­net access.

We get to see Dev­as­ta­tor, Jet­fire, Wheels, Chro­mia, Mega­tron smash­ing Opti­mus Prime across a field, The Fallen, Skids, Mud­flaps, Side­swipe, pos­si­bly Black­out, Scalpel, Bum­ble­bee and more.

Black­out, the first active Decep­ti­con in the first movie looks to now appear in Revenge of the Fallen, but the rotary blades are much smaller, some sug­gest this is instead Springer.

Michael Bay recently screened his cut of Trans­form­ers 2, “Revenge of the Fallen” to exec­u­tive pro­ducer Steven Spiel­berg in an empty Sony the­ater. He has reported back via his Shoot for the Edit forums stat­ing that Speil­berg called it “Awe­some” and pos­si­bly Bay’s best. Work on a new trailer has just fin­ished and it is set to appear before the new Wolver­ine movie, due for release on May 1st in the US.

Steven Spiel­berg sat next to me in a big 100 per­son the­ater at Sony today. There were 98 empty seats. The lights came up after we just watched my cut of Revenge of the Fallen. He turned to me and said “It’s awe­some”. He felt this movie was bet­ter than the first — and prob­a­bly my best, who knows — at this point in a movie you start to lose your objec­tiv­ity. I just hope the fans like it. I’m going to start putting it in front of audi­ences in a few weeks — no you are not invited, yet.

We have 60 days left. Let me tell you it will be a race to fin­ish. It’s 12 at night and we are still work­ing here in the edit room. Every­one at ILM and DD are killing them­selves right now, they are doing a stel­lar job on the effects. We also just fin­ished our trailer which is com­ing out with Wolver­ine. Talk to you soon.

While we wait for the offi­cial high qual­ity ver­sion of the trailer, Behind the Films have pro­vided a much cleaner, watch­able ver­sion, although still recorded in a cin­ema. The constructicon’s trans­for­ma­tion, The Fallen at the pyra­mids and Scor­ponok are all much eas­ier to make out in this copy:

Not as hard hit­ting as the Super­bowl teaser was in terms of the wow that’s huge fac­tor, this trailer has more of the slowly-building up and impend­ing doom feeling.

Key points high­lighed by NightShade87 over at TLAMB:

Here are some key points in the video that I sug­gest tak­ing a closer look at. I’ve pro­vided the times at which some of newer ones occur, and my own thoughts as well).
– The begin­ning opens up in France (notice the Eif­fel tower in the back­ground) and two proto­forms are seen falling out of the sky (in broad day­light no less) and one strikes a build­ing.
– Switches to show the pyra­mids and air­craft carrier-It then looks like there may be a total of 4? proto­forms land­ing in Egypt.
– Then we go back to scene of the air­craft car­rier, which is sunk by more proto­forms (if I counted 6 in this shot, that would make a grand total of 12 proto­forms caus­ing some kind of destruc­tion, whether intended or not.)
– At 0:55 you can very clearly see one of the three Arcee cars that is chas­ing the Audi that just jumped through a build­ing. (It looks to be a pur­ple bike to me, but that could just be the light. And Boo was right; it does look like she’s some type of uni­cy­cle, or at least a third of her robot form.)-We get to see a semi-full trans­for­ma­tion for the RH-400 and Bay wasn’t lying when he said that thing was huge!-Sam again tells his dad to run, but then Ron gives his own idea of what they should do.
– At 1:18 you see Sam tak­ing apart a mechan­i­cal bug, though I don’t know exactly what type (some­thing with wings. I also thought I saw a minia­ture satel­lite on there, but not sure)
– At 1:28 we finally see Bum­ble­bee for the first time. He’s trans­form­ing in what looks like the Witwicky’s back­yard in plain view of Sam’s dad in broad day­light. He then shoots at some­thing off screen.
– At 1:33 we get the first notice of Scor­pinok in Egypt it looks like, jump­ing at another robot. Can’t tell who at this point. But very pointy edges. Starscream? The Audi? Jet­fire?
– 1:38. I think that this is our first very dis­torted but nonethe­less glimpse of what the Fallen looks like. I’m only say­ing that because numer­ous spots on the body look like they’re glow­ing red (indi­ca­tion of flames?)
– Much of the rest has already been shown, except for start­ing at 1:47, which gives us a dif­fer­ent angle on Opti­mus approach­ing [the Con­struc­ti­con]. You can see him slid­ing a few sec­onds later much like he did when fight­ing Bonecrusher on the high­way in the first movie. All in all, I think this whets the appetite pretty nicely for TF fans. Sorry about the qual­ity and the shak­i­ness of the video.

Conebone69 at the SHH forums has a friend at a local the­ater that has seen the newest Trans­form­ers trailer, he gives this description:

I talked to my friend that works at a local the­ater over here and he told me the new T2 trailer was with an early screen­ing of the upcom­ing movie Fri­day the 13th! He said it went by very fast but he man­aged to catch a few things. Sup­pos­edly it starts out with Sam talk­ing to Mikaela about how they cant give up. He said it starts out slow but as it pro­gresses it gets alot faster. Then towards the mid­dle a series of clips are shown: a bunch of auto­bots jump­ing all over this huge decep­ti­con but he just picks them up and throws them off, Bum­ble­bee bat­tling with rav­age (im guess­ing it was rav­age because he said it looked like a lion), some trans­form­ers crash­ing out of a high build­ing and trans­form­ing in mid air. Then it ended with opti­mus prime talk­ing to another auto­bot. He said it didnt show much more then what was shown in the super­bowl spot but it was still epic. I cant wait for this trailer!
