Michael Bay recently screened his cut of Transformers 2, “Revenge of the Fallen” to executive producer Steven Spielberg in an empty Sony theater. He has reported back via his Shoot for the Edit forums stating that Speilberg called it “Awesome” and possibly Bay’s best. Work on a new trailer has just finished and it is set to appear before the new Wolverine movie, due for release on May 1st in the US.
Steven Spielberg sat next to me in a big 100 person theater at Sony today. There were 98 empty seats. The lights came up after we just watched my cut of Revenge of the Fallen. He turned to me and said “It’s awesome”. He felt this movie was better than the first — and probably my best, who knows — at this point in a movie you start to lose your objectivity. I just hope the fans like it. I’m going to start putting it in front of audiences in a few weeks — no you are not invited, yet.
We have 60 days left. Let me tell you it will be a race to finish. It’s 12 at night and we are still working here in the edit room. Everyone at ILM and DD are killing themselves right now, they are doing a stellar job on the effects. We also just finished our trailer which is coming out with Wolverine. Talk to you soon.
The Hollywood reporter have posted a video interview with Transformers 2 writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman. Within they discuss their aims for the project and their decision to return.
Speaking with MTV once again, Michael Bay has revealed further Transformers 2 details — this time focusing on the action scenes,
“There’s no car chase in this movie, […] There’s a lot of different types of action. In some movies, it’s the same action throughout the entire movie. There’s a lot of different types of action in this one, and that makes it interesting.”
He went on to confirm that we would see Devastator in full IMAX glory before claiming:
“[Several scenes] are going to be on IMAX, which is awesome. […] Some of our main scenes were shot with IMAX cameras, so the screen will pop wide [if you see the film in an IMAX theater]. It’s the first movie to do serious digital effects in IMAX quality.”
The opening shot of the movie, which should also be in IMAX, will feature Megan Fox and shall beat that ‘flirtatious hood opening scene’ from the first movie:
“It’s better. […] [While filming] I was at a gas station buying ice cream bars, and these 15-year-old boys were looking at me. They were like, ‘You’re that dude that directed “Transformers”!’ And I’m like, ‘Yeah. Do you want to see “Transformers 2″? They were like, ‘Yeah!’ ” “I said, ‘Why do you want to see it?’ And together, in unison, they said, ‘The hot chick!’ […] It will be a good shot for them.”
eBay seller yayabeee has listed Scalpel on the auction site with a host of new images detailing every aspect of the toy. Meanwhile a video review of the toy has been posted by Peaugh detailing the transformation from microscope to robot bug.
The toy video reviews are proving popular and more and more of them are popping up, here there and everywhere. This time its a review of the green Skids Deluxe class toy by Dl3anksak47, he has also posted other video reviews on his YouTube channel:
After TF08 released images of Wheelie’s robot and alt mode in toy form, there is now a video review of the blue RC truck. It illustrates the size of the toy and the transformation from alt mode to robot mode. It’s head comes out from the rear of the truck whilst the wheels split open to reveal the spindly limbs and claws, the cabin opens up to reveal the autobot logo. After posing the creature is returned to his truck like state, (to the tune of the Transformers score).
