Transformers 2 Video Game — site live, screenshots, details and concepts April 15th, 2009

The official Transformers 2 video game site has launched today, containing new screenshots, the video game trailer we have previously seen and an interesting set of concept art for the game. Meanwhile Kotaku have posted some additional screenshots of the PS3/360Wii and Nintendo DS versions of the game.

Video game concept art

One area found on the new site that is completely new is a small gallery of concept art images. They show an inner city construction site being looked upon by Bumblebee and Bumblebee fighting the huge two wheeled excavator constructicon in Shanghai. There is also an interesting image showing a beam of light coming down from the sky — the picture is named ‘harvester’ — perhaps the Sun harvester mentioned in Defiance #4 and possibly seen in the kids coloring book.

Details about the game

Kotaku go into some depth about the game’s features, which I have surmised:

- Closely follows plot of movie
– No linear story, central hub from there you select missions to play
– Can play as Autobot or Decepticon and can choose your Transformer
– Missions are timed and completing them quickly can earn you Transformer upgrades
– You can climb up the sides of buildings
– The demo showed that Sideways (Audi R8) is a sniper robot, complete with rifle
– One button quick transformations are still in
– Each Transformer has a special ability when transformed
– Can attack an enemy by diving at them and transforming next to them
– Starscream has a hover ability
– Lame chauffeuring Shia mission

Press release

SANTA MONICA, Calif., Feb 06, 2009 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX News Network/ — The fate of the earth and the survival of the human race hang in the balance in the Transformers™: Revenge of the Fallen video game from Activision Publishing, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATVI). Based on Hasbro’s legendary TRANSFORMERS property and the most anticipated blockbuster film of 2009 from DreamWorks Pictures and Paramount Pictures in association with Hasbro, the game propels players straight into an adrenaline-pumping battle for supremacy across the globe where every second and every choice makes the difference between mankind’s salvation and annihilation.

“The Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen video game will give fans the chance to experience their favorite AUTOBOTS and DECEPTICONS in an all-new, movie inspired adventure packed with the thrilling and explosive action that only the TRANSFORMERS universe can deliver,” said Rob Kostich, vice president of global brand management, Activision, Inc. “We are thrilled to announce that after experiencing the rush of commanding colossal robots on their own, players can challenge their friends for the first time ever in full-featured, blistering multiplayer action as their favorite characters.”

“Activision has developed a Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen video game that will give gamers and fans a truly compelling way to experience TRANSFORMERS,” said Mark Blecher, Hasbro’s General Manager of Digital Gaming and Media. “The Activision team’s passion for the property clearly shows in the character development, intense action and rich graphics that really deliver an immersive experience for the user.”

The Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen video game lets gamers step into the shoes of the AUTOBOTS or DECEPTICONS, select any available mission and pick from the largest, most diverse range of playable Transformers — each with their own distinct abilities and weaponry. Set in unique environments across the globe such as Cairo and Shanghai, the game allows players to instantly switch between vehicle and robot modes as they drive, fly, fight and blast their way through intense, pressure-packed levels. After engaging in single player action, players for the first time ever will be able to go online and battle friends in all-new multiplayer modes.

The Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen video game is currently in development by Luxoflux for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system, and for Windows PC by Beenox Studios.

Also, Krome Studios is developing distinct Wii™ and PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system versions, utilizing the individual platform features to deliver an intense 3rd person action adventure game that combines dynamic robot combat with arcade-style vehicle sequences and flight-based levels. In addition, two completely different titles are being developed for Nintendo DS™ by Vicarious Visions, allowing players to take on AUTOBOT or DECEPTICON-specific campaigns. For the PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system, a unique, fast-paced action arcade title is being developed by Savage Entertainment.

I think its kinda dumb not make a ps2 version of this game like they did for the first transformers game…sure there will be worse graphics but it will still sell very well for the ps2 (which most kids have) assumming that because its the cheapest game system out.

transformers 2 July 15th, 2009

i think they shoud have all been produced by the same company instead of making them from different companys because on ps2,wii,ds and psp it sucks compared to the ps3 and xbox 360 version

transformers 2 July 15th, 2009

I think they shoud have all been produced by the same company instead of making them from different companys because on ps2,wii,ds and psp it is really bad compared to the ps3 and xbox 360 version of it.Also now every video game on other platforms except the ps3 and xbox 360 and somtimes wii version is really bad.If anyone from a videogame company sees this please make every platform the same not just the ps3 and xbox 360 version good because I might be getting transformers 2 the video game on ps2 and I saw some of the gameplay clips on google videos and the video game doesn’t look good as the ps3 and xbox 360 images.I also really want to get an xbox360 and I want to get the transformers 2 the video game on it so it doesn’t be in a bad version but my mum say’s its to expensive so please make every platform the same as xbox 360 or ps3 version for every video game there is.
