Trailer set to air on Feb 1st January 10th, 2009

Variety have confirmed rumors that the first Revenge of the Fallen trailer will make its appearance during the Superbowl on February 1st:

Nearly every studio will push pics during the big game, airing on NBC Feb. 1, with the movie lineup naturally made up of summer tentpoles whose studios hope to appeal to the nearly 100 U.S. million viewers that tune in to the broadcast.

Confirmed for this year’s roster are high-profile titles like Paramount’s “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen,” “Star Trek” and “G.I. Joe”; Sony’s “Angels and Demons”; DreamWorks Animation’s “Monsters vs. Aliens”; and Universal’s “Land of the Lost” and its fourth installment in “The Fast and the Furious” franchise. Disney is also planning to use the game to raise the profile for Pixar’s next toon, “Up.”

The movie blurbs will in many cases show off footage from the pics for the first time. Par has yet to unveil a single frame of the “Transformers” sequel and will use the Super Bowl to make the big reveal.

Bowing the fresh footage will generate heat for the pics considering the broadcast attracted 97 million viewers last year and consistently ranks as one of the few annual televised events in which auds pay attention to the commercials and talk about them afterward.

Revenge of the Fallen Teaser poster revealed January 10th, 2009

This poster originally showed up on eBay and has since been confirmed as the official teaser poster for Transformers 2, released by Dreamworks pictures for Yahoo Movies to use.

Michael Bay has posted a comment about the poster on his forums under the title ‘Revenge is Coming’:

Okay it’s time to turn up the heat on Transformers — Revenge of the Fallen. We’ve waited low in the weeds letting all the summer movies get their stuff out. We’ve seen the great year end movies, and watched the upcoming clips of the upcoming summer fare. We’ve seen certain movies coming out even try to duplicate Transformer size robots in their ads. Please, come on.

Well, I promise you we will rock your world with Transformers 2. The fans wanted ROBOTS KICKING ASS — well we got it. Today we are releasing the teaser poster and soon the onslaught will continue with a steady drum beat until June 26th.

I’ll keep you informed.

Enhanced Poster

This comes via Bilal and TLAMB and shows the finer details of the poster:

Theories

The predominant theory is that this is Jetfire, judging by the face’s comparisons with the Jetfire toy — note red eyes and the same ridged sides. Another theory, that I believe is equally valid, is that this is actually The Fallen, the face also very closely matches the shape of the Decepticon logo:

Official Site Updated

The official site has updated to include the poster image, in higher detail than available elsewhere, I’ve grabbed this and enhanced it:

Chevy Beat heading to Detroit auto show January 8th, 2009

Just had a heads up from Jalopnik that the new Chevy Beat, featured in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, will be making its way to the Detroit auto show after a sneak preview on the Today Show with Matt Lauer. Watch Video clip.

Jalopnik also speculate that the car on view will be a production model rather than a concept as previously seen in New York.

Video of Saturn crashing into Pole January 8th, 2009

This is another video from PhillyFilmGirl, posted a short while back but nevertheless unseen as it stands with only 700 views. This is once again from the Princeton movie shoot and shows the Saturn being driven by Sam crashing slowly into a pole:

More ROTF toy images: Biplane and boat January 8th, 2009

The-Arker have returned with new card shots of two more Revenge of the Fallen toys — their alt modes being a biplane and a gun boat respectively, despite being a little bit blurry. Once again these are unlikely to appear in the movie.

The-Arker have also posted new shots of the Jolt FAB toy’s packaging:

Would you be interested in more Transformers toy news? At the moment I am restricting the news to ROTF related developments with an aim to stay on the topic of the movie. What do you guys think?

Shia, Fox and Rodriguez running January 7th, 2009

PhillyFilmGirl has posted a new videos showing shots of Shia LaBoeuf, Megan Fox and Ramon Rodriguez running away from something, then followed by a calm but pacing Isabel Lucas as ‘Alice’, a possible ‘shell’ for the Ravage transformer.
