Christian Bale has also been talking with the folks at The Today Show — delving into a little bit of the Batman psyche in this 7 minute feature:
There are also some candid shots of his Today Show appearance, standing next to the Bat pod and some extra snippets of Bale being interviewed at the premier. The 3 videos are embedded in a playlist below:
The presenting in this first video, The Today show, is hilariously bad, do people actually watch this rubbish? (I’m British and don’t have to contend with such things)… Mr Morgan Freedman… . That aside — we get to hear Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine’s views of Heath Ledger’s performance in a noisy and poorly sounded interview:
The BBC have posted an article from The Dark Knight’s première, citing quotes from the cast and crew paying tribute to the late heath Ledger and his performance as The Joker. (Video available on the BBC site)
“It’s the best performance of a villain I have seen. […] My feeling is that he will get a nomination, I would be very surprised if he didn’t get the Oscar — he has my vote anyway,” — Sir Michael Caine
“I haven’t seen a villain like this, or a bad guy like this, since Dennis Hopper played Frank Booth in Blue Velvet — this out-scares Hannibal Lecter.” — Gary Oldman
“What we wanted to do was create a villain that’s iconic and terrifying, I think, but also recognizably human. And I think Heath does that in a very interesting way — I think people are going to be blown away.” — Chris Nolan
“He’s created this anarchic, Sid Vicious-like, punk rock Joker, unlike any Joker that’s been seen before. I think it’s a real classic portrayal that will be remembered for ages. It is tragic he is not here, but I am here to see his talents and celebrate it and I hope everybody will.” — Christian Bale
“I’m so sad he’s not here with us and doing these interviews right now, but we are going to honour him tonight.” — Aaron Eckhart
Coming Soon have sat down and spoken with three members of The Dark Knight cast, Christian Bale, Aaron Eckhart and Gary Oldman. I have included the three videos below in a playlist, some warning, the thrid video (Gary Oldman) does contain spoilers:
A new message was posted to the mains and public forums of Citizens for Batman today,
Poster: BriDog72 — Thursday, July 3rd, 2008 at 00:12
Seems there’s been a bit of a slipup with the project me and Batfan73 have been working on. BatFan’s in jail and I need everyone’s help. He left me a voicemail, it was kinda garbled, but he said he was picked up by the cops for trespassing, so he needs some help getting everything activated. He’s not sure when he’s going to be able to extract himself from his situation.
He said he needs someone to get some sort of key off of an invoice, number 38272899 (geez, I hope I copied that down right), but he got cut off before he could tell me what this invoice is or even where to find it. We need this key to activate everything.
Can anyone figure this out? We’re going to need to fix this or the whole thing’s ruined! Anyone?
In an email to Glenn Barhyte, Jim Gordon made reference to Maroni Imports, leading us to a new viral site, www.maroniimports.com
With the invoice number from the forums post and the sruname “Craston”, which appeared in a small news update to the Gotham City Rail website:
ALERT: The STCS will undergo initial fine-tuning of its software on the evening of July 8th. This routine maintenance may result in temporary intermittent system delays. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. — C. Craston, Sr. Elec. Engineer, GCR
With this information the aforementioned invoice can be downloaded, at the bottom of it there is a key for a signal booster, Key: 5D45C08AA6C3638D7829C0D5183FDB14B0CDBF1DCB12. With this key, the signal booster was activated and CFB was updated to show two sets of co-ordinates in New York and Chicago. Hence the two locations for the big event this July 8th are now known:
CFB has since been updated to include a new mission statement:
Sometimes, you have to take a stand. You have to fight for respect. You have to let the entire world know you’re here.
On July 8th, nobody will be able to ignore us. Gather at the above coordinates at the appointed time, and help us take a stand in support of Batman!
If you can’t join us on the ground, we’ll be providing a way for you to watch what goes down, live on this website.
Defend Gotham! Defend Batman!

The IESB have posted 8 video interviews with cast members of The Dark Knight — Aaron Eckhart, Christian Bale, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Antony Michael Hall, Nestor Carbonell and Christopher Nolan. All 8 videos are included below in a YouTube playlist, in no particular order:
Fuelling the unstoppable locomotive of Dark Knight hype, Christian Bale has been speaking with Parade about his roles as Batman/Bruce Wayne.
The choice quote comes from Bale’s enthusiastic talk of a third movie:
“What Batman is all about is a double-sided edge; there’s a duality to this character, which makes him still interesting to play in the sequel — I hope in a third. And I’m working with people who are going to inspire but also demand that I come up with something new. I do love the unknown, but there’s more to investigate in Bruce Wayne and Batman.”
The second episode of Gotham Tonight is online at the Gotham City News network. You can still catch the first episode in their archive
