New Dark Knight Image — The Batpod December 11th, 2007

Warner Brothers have today released a slew of promotional images for a number of their upcoming films. Two of these were Dark Knight related, the first is Batman atop the Bat-pod. The second was that shot of the Joker which donned the front cover of the recent Empire magazine. Now in high resolution without the “Empire” text.

3 New Dark Knight Images December 8th, 2007

These three promotional shots (one of which we have seen before, but clouded with cover page texts) come via Comics2Film. I particularly love the last image, which at first glance appears to be unrelated, until you notice the mask.

Dark Knight Animé (Gotham Knight) Image December 7th, 2007

As some of you are aware, The Dark Knight movie will be preceeded by a multi-part animé story, similar to the way that the Animatrix worked — although as of late details about this project have been in short supply.

Just Press Play have a brand new screen cap via the latest Wizard Universe issue, illustrating one of the new animé storylines, it does look incrediby awesome.

For the low-down on the six short films in the animé I recommend reading our older post, previously thought to be lost in the depths of our archives. The DVD is set for a direct to video release close to July, but we should see a lot more of the Gotham Knight before then.

High Resolution Dark Knight Poster and Joker December 5th, 2007

We all like to see high resolution pictures, today I have two of them for you. The first is a whopping 300dpi 100mb version of the teaser poster. To illustrate the detail of a picture like this, here’s a fully sized extract:

The more astute will have noticed a link to this file on Why So Serious. It appears to the bottom right of the normal sized picture:

If this link suffers under the traffic, etc, here is a handy mirror site: Alternate Download

Next up we have the medium-to-high resolution version of that Empire magazine cover thanks to David:

Step Right Up Countdown Challenge December 4th, 2007

Update: Batsean has been to the bakery to get his cake…

Dark Knight Cake

Dark Knight Insides of Cake

The Evidence in the Cake

The note says:

Wow, you really took the cake! Now, put the icing on it: call (phone number) immediately from this phone and THIS PHONE ONLY. Do NOT give this phone number to anyone else.

Let’s hope your fellow goons come through as well as you. Once all the layers are in place, you’ll all get your just desserts. I’m a man of my word

Step Right Up

The countdown on the latest why so serious viral marketing puzzle has come to an end, and revealed the final challenge.

Hanging from the stall in front of you are, as of now, 6 cuddly toys, although not at all cute. Each of them has a location pinned on, a location that, by instruction, you must travel to and not call.

The Cuddly Toys and Locations

Why So Serious Bears

The instructions also ask you to go under the name “Robin Banks” (aka Robbing Banks) at each of these places, with “One per location, first come, first served”. It seems that each of these is a bakery store, with the prize being somesort of bakery delight with an attached phone number. Some of the bears are already starting to disappear, and with each new discovery the mallet on the left hits a little harder.

Hitting the base of the machine used to invoke a pathetically small rise of the weight, not even enough to light the first level.

Batman and The Joker Promo Pics December 2nd, 2007

These promotional pictures come via Uruloki which is getting pretty hammered at the moment. After all that viral marketing we get something truly rewarding via something completely unrelated… not sure if these promo pics were leaked early or not, though they come at a time when lots of publications are getting their Joker fix on. These are spreading like wildfire, as fast as those other controversially leaked screen cap images we briefly saw a few months back.

Without further adieu, here are Batman and The Joker, posing beautifully for you:

EDIT: Sorry folks, looks like the images are being pulled down! Hence they are gone from here too.

New Joker and Bale Images November 30th, 2007

Along with Empire, Wizard have a super hero themed issue which dons a glorious front cover picture of Heath Ledger as The Joker:

The Empire article itself also contains a new Batman picture of Bruce Wayne admiring the new bat-suit. For those interested in reading the article, but are unable to purchase a copy of the British publication, a typed out version can be found on SHH, Empire Article. This is an extract from the Empire interview with Chris Nolan:

“The way Batman Begins ended was intended not so much as sequel bait,” Nolan insists, “but to create a level of excitement at the end of the movie. Ultimately, the sequel happened because we got caught up in that process of imagining how you would see the Joker go through the prism of what we did in the first film.”

And how is the Joker seen through that prism? “Indescribable, really, Not to sound evasive — it actually is quite difficult to explain, but all I can really say is Heath’s not doing any particular thing, he’s inhabiting the character in very much the way I’d hoped from a psychological perspective. He really created something that I think is going to be quite terrifying.”
