5 New Dark Knight Posters, possibly fake April 28th, 2008

Omelette have the exclusive on five brand new Dark Knight posters, one of these is in the same vein as the officially released poster which came through Why So Serious, the others are in a completely new style — and I believe, almost certainly faked — their minimalist layout which contains previously seen imagery that also strays away from the traditional Dark Knight font-set and layout are the clues. They are still sultry and impressive however.

This final adaptation is almost certainly a fake — reusing a Joker image seen in a previous poster with some poorly rendered burning Joker card, via Film School Rejects. Though once again, I am posting it because it is a nice concept.

It’s all part of the plan — New Dark Knight Poster! April 24th, 2008

Operation Slipknot has completed:

EXCELLENT WORK!

Operation Slipknot is complete. Even though three suspects remain at large, your work represents a huge step forward in cleaning up our beloved city.

The fugitives are being arrested, handcuffed, and extradited back to Gotham for prosecution.

Doesn’t it feel better to be on the right side of the law for once?

Thanks to you, Gotham can hold its head high once again. But do me one favor… stay out of trouble.

–Gordon.

Clicking each of the suspects shows how they were caught. Shortly after the completion (despite three missed suspects), participants received a phone call from Jim Gordon (DOWNLOAD).

humanresources@whysoserious then sent out a text to the mobiles in the packages received — pointing us towards a new Why So Serious Page: “It’s All Part of the Plan”.

There’s a four day countdown and a lever in the top right — clicking the lever reveals a brand new Dark Knight Poster: “Welcome to a world without rules” (Download Super Hi Resolution Image)

New Dark Knight Trailer Debuts, Comic Con April 20th, 2008

The long rumored, new Dark Knight trailer was aired at the New York Comic-con yesterday, and it is expected to arrive at your local theater in the next couple of weeks — when the internet gets it is anyone’s guess, though I imagine we’ll get a grainy bootleg shortly before a high-definition download-able version.

MTV have provided a trustworthy description of the trailer if you can’t take the wait,

— After a breathtaking shot of Batman perched high above Gotham, a voiceover from Heath Ledger’s Joker asks “Where do we begin?” Batman glides through the city.

- “Kill the Batman,” the Joker states to an adjoined meeting of mob bosses, before an explosion is shown and the subsequent showing of a Joker card. This seemingly gels with the suspicion that the Joker is controlling the mob through ransom (after robbing the mob-run bank in the IMAX preview).

- After several shots of Harvey Dent in District Attorney mode, we finally get everyone together as the Joker invades a fancy bash with Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale), Alfred (Michael Caine), Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart) and Rachel Dawes (Maggie Gyllenhaal). Sadly, the scene wasn’t topped off by the Penguin crashing through the floor on a giant duck.

- “The dawn is coming” says Dent in a voiceover.

- The Joker mutters “Here we go” before walking down a city street blowing stuff up in one particularly awesome scene.

- In one of the most foreboding moments of the trailer, Dent emphatically states “You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain.” Harvey Dent, of course, backwardly referencing his future transformation into super-villain “Two-Face.”

- Our eyes may have been playing tricks on us, but it certainly looked like the Joker drops Dawes at some point. The length of said drop is uncertain.

IGN have also been there, taking pictures, with some spectacular Batman and Joker figures:

Leaked Joker Pictures April 2nd, 2008

It looks like the Jow Forums have leaked some very revealing shots of The Joker in The Dark Knight, albeit with some photoshop effects thrown over the top. They include scenes from the hospital and the parade — they are major spoilers as to certain events in the movie.

As these were leaked we shall not be posting them here. Certain sites do still have them though. However I recommend staying away from these, if you can — these are things you’d want to see in the movie and not beforehand.

Thanks Keith.

Clown Travel Agency — The Hunt is On April 1st, 2008

All packages have been uncovered! Now time to head over to Acme Security Systems or continue following our coverage

As expected, The Clown Travel Agency viral puzzle has come online — this time they have gone international. By clicking on the manilla envelope (donned with the text “Proud Mother” in the bottom right) a sheet of locations is revealed — from Paris to Sao Paolo. At each of these locations is a package.

The text reads:

“Ready to have a ball?
A special bag of fun awaits the first to claim it. But you better strike fast, there’s no time to spare

The message hints at the sport of Ten Pin Bowling, and this message from Alex at SHH confirms that:

I contacted the Tavistock Hotel, but I was too late, however they gave me some info on the package. Someone collected it and inside was a bowling ball, and a nifty smart mobile phone. On the ball was a mobile phone number etched on it. He rang the number apaprently and was told they now knew who he was and to await further instructions.

The folks over at SHH and Omelette have posted their pictures of the packages.

The note that came with it reads:

“Nice work, clown! Now call the number on the ball immediately, from this phone and THIS PHONE ONLY. Don’t give this number to anyone else, or I’ll know.

Hopefully, your cohorts will be in the same league as you, because once all your points are racked up, I’ll give you all something that will really bowl you over…”

A bowling ball, a joker card, a phone, a message and a bag for the lot.

Major Harvey Dent Spoiler and Costume pics March 26th, 2008

Let’s first start with the news that everyone can enjoy — some shots from the Halloween Costume Party (HCP) show in Las Vegas reveal the options we shall all have come October, thanks to SHH (and thanks to Juno and Pierre for sending this in). There are clown masks, bat-suits and purple Joker suits for you to fit into, if you’re that way inclined:

New Batpod shots from ShoWest March 12th, 2008

ComingSoon have posted some high resolution photos of The Dark Knight’s Batpod, from the ShoWest Las Vegas convention:

New York Times Dark Knight Report March 10th, 2008

The NYTimes have posted a very interesting Dark Knight report which closely follows Chris Nolan’s work as director. It is a must read, even if the minor plot spoilers in the first paragraph would put you off. I’ve included some choice excerpts for you below, along with the new images that feature in the article.

In so many ways this isn’t what you’d expect of a $180 million Hollywood comic-book movie sequel with a zillion moving parts, a cast of thousands and sets from here to Hong Kong. Anyone else would shoot indoors, use digital effects or wait for clear skies; Mr. Nolan rolls with the weather’s punches, believing that the messiness of reality can’t be faked. Another filmmaker would leave a shot like this in the hands of a second-unit director, but Mr. Nolan doesn’t use one; if it’s on the screen, he directed it, and his longtime cinematographer, Wally Pfister, worked the camera. Stars on any other movie would have fled to their trailers to wait in comfort until needed again. Here, Gary Oldman is watching and shivering along with everybody else, cracking jokes to keep warm.

[…]

Now the question is whether Mr. Nolan’s vision of Batman can not only maintain its hold on the imaginations of comic fans and critics, but expand its reach to a wider summer moviegoing audience, even as the death of Heath Ledger, who played the Joker in “The Dark Knight,” has added unanticipated morbidity to the film’s deliberate darkness.

[…]

“As we looked through the comics, there was this fascinating idea that Batman’s presence in Gotham actually attracts criminals to Gotham, attracts lunacy,” he said. “When you’re dealing with questionable notions like people taking the law into their own hands, you have to really ask, where does that lead? That’s what makes the character so dark, because he expresses a vengeful desire.”

[…]

Will Mr. Ledger’s death cast a pall over “The Dark Knight,” whose tragic plot turns already make it much darker than “Batman Begins”? “We’ll see,” said Mr. Robinov, of Warner Brothers. Mr. Nolan, for his part, said he felt a “massive sense of responsibility” to do right by Mr. Ledger’s “terrifying, amazing” performance.
